Liberal Democrats in Middlesbrough South & East Cleveland have unanimously chosen Guisborough Councillor Jemma Joy as their candidate for Parliament at the next General Election.

Jemma stood for election there in the 2019 General Election and increased the Lib Dem share of the vote.

Since then, Jemma has won election to both Guisborough Town Council and Redcar & Cleveland Borough Council, and is a very active councillor for the Hutton Ward.

Jemma lives in Guisborough with her husband, two daughters and dog. Her day job is as an account manager for a pharmaceutical company.

Following her selection, Cllr Jemma Joy said:

“It’s a great honour to have this opportunity to stand to represent the people of Guisborough, Loftus, Skelton, Middlesbrough and the villages.

“Ours is a beautiful, diverse area and I love living here. But we do not always get our fair share of council and Government funding.

“If elected I will work to ensure that our area gets a fair deal from whatever Government is in power after the election.”
